cleaning up my house, i found this dvd lying on my dining table, a dvd that was given to me by mr. maurice lee, he is my lawyer as well as the vice chairman of the HKADC aka Hong Kong Arts Development Council, an indie movie called KJ - music & life. Maurice told me about this indie movie a few months ago while we were catching up @ dinner. When he told me about this movie, i was only semi-interested and put aside the dvd til now. at first i had no idea what dvd this was except for the words, - kevin “please don’t cry, this is life” so that immediately caught my attention to see what is in this dvd. so i popped it into my computer and started to watch it, at first it was what i thought to be a bullshit movie about the concert world in hong kong but i kept it on while cleaning my house and found myself captivated more and more by this movie. its an indie movie filmed about or surrounding the life of KJ, a child prodigy in music.
this kid really has an ego that is really enormous at a young age, saying he’s the best leader and the best in everything, which caught my attention and started focusing my attention on the film and caught myself watching it from the beginning to the end without any distraction.
KJ really reminded me of when i was younger, an overly smart and prodigy like kid that seems to know everything in the world, thinks a lot and is quite deep and is lost in this world of imperfection.
its a very touching film because i can resonate with KJ a lot and really saw myself when i was watching this film.
its a sad story but i have learned so much from this film. music and life.
reflecting back on my own life, of competition and struggle, sometimes kids that seem to have a good upbringing or have everything, and the deeper struggles of the meaning of life, and why we are put on this earth. as i enter the next phase in my life, i want to also influence people and leave an legacy and impact on the next generation.
i would recommend this film to you, and hope that it sheds some light on life and the meaning of it.

last night i had the privilege to check out CMD new artist MASTA MIC perform live @ the fringe club. it was like i was back in high school, actually when i was going to school, i frequented the fringe club for live band and music acts, never did i realize that 10 years later i will be going to check on talent that is signed to our sister label.
a lot of our friends came out that night, sam lee, phat from 24 herbs, edc, vernie, joe, tony, adrin, helen, miss yellow, pae, and the list goes on…. it really was enjoyable to see so many people supporting an indie movement.
